Two newcomers to the T2 format enjoying contrasting fortunes although the match could well have gone Liang’s way. The Chinese player was slow to get going and was two games behind when he started finding his range and managed to narrow the gap. Heading into the FAST5 3-1 ahead, it was Jeoung’s turn to lose his nerve as Liang won two games comfortably and looked close to pulling off a great escape. That was when the Korean regained his composure, and also enjoyed a fortunate net cord, to close out the win.
I just never felt like I’ve settled into the match until the very last game. The T2 experience is very new to me and I’m happy to win this match. My next opponent Xu Xin is a very strong player, I will prepare well and hope to be able to play my normal game.
Jeoung Youngsik
I was slow to get into the rhythm of the game. And I was probably getting too excited during the FAST5, and should have had better composure. I could have done with a bit of luck as well.”
