A late call-up to the tournament following withdrawals, Jeon made the most of her unexpected return to T2 with victory over higher-ranked Hirano. Steadier now than she was in 2017, Jeon twice came back from a game down in regulation time to tie the scores, as she stepped up each time she was behind. Victory came when the Korean took two of the three FAST5 games, aided perhaps by the experience of playing the similar KillZone games in 2017.
Towards the end, I was hurrying my shots and that was where the game was lost.
Miu Hirano
I think self-belief got me past the finish line, it was simply having the confidence of my place here. I’m very happy to be back in T2 and seeing so many familiar faces and I think that lifted my game against Hirano.
