DAY 2 MATCH 12 – HE Zhuojia vs DING Ning
Match 12: HE Zhuojia (CHN) 1 – 4 DING Ning (CHN) (8-11, 11-8, 6-11, 7-11, 2-5*)
Ding, the player who has won it all, took a first step towards the T2 crown with a clinical win over her younger compatriot He Zhuojia. Ding showed she’s not ready to yield to up-and-coming brigade as she displayed an array of shots that proved too much for He. Despite dropping the second game, Ding was always in control, even if her trademark tomahawk serve didn’t quite work on a couple of occasions.
We obviously train and play each other and are familiar with each other’s game, so I knew what I needed to do to prepare against her. Next up against Sun Yingsha, I shall just relax and enjoy the battle.
I really love the T2 setting. The arena is like a stage and players become performers… it is so exciting to be part of this. I just went out and played every point as best as I could.
