It’s always tough when teammates meet, with each knowing the other’s game all too well. For today's match, it was Mima Ito who proved too good for her compatriot Kasumi Ishikawa. The first two games must have passed in a blur for the older Ishikawa as Ito was simply beating her for speed. Ito’s replies were swift, decisive and unpredictable. Ishikawa fought back and was able to pull back a game but that was as far as she got.
I was able to get my way in the first two games but Kasumi came back strong in the third set and I had to make adjustments to get back on track. We train a lot together and know each other’s game well.
